3. Discussion

Discussion

Yellow and green. Show the children pictures of things that are green and yellow. What colour do we mix with yellow to get green?

Discussion Resources

Download and print the PDF. Place the pictures into a plastic file pocket or laminate them. Use for the discussion about yellow and green.

4. Teacher-directed concrete activity

Sorting and matching. 1. Cut out a large circle from green and yellow cardboard or cardboard painted green and yellow.

2. Have the children bring objects from around the room to compare and to see if they are yellow ...

3. ... or green.

4. Make a yellow and green display on the circles with the objects you have collected.

5. Presenting the activity sheet

(Make your assessment after this activity) 1. Print a copy of the activity sheet for each child.

2. Give the children the colour picture from the cutting page to cut out. Paste it down next to the frog.

3. Give the children yellow paper cut into strips or a yellow crayon.

4. Paste the strips down radiating from the sun. Colour in the sun and the frog.

Spatial relationships. Did the child paste the strips down around the sun?

Pasting down evenly, leaving spaces. Did the child leave spaces between the strips?

Spatial relationships refers to interpreting the position of one object in relation to others.

7. Teacher-directed activity

Beanbag game (Make your observations during this activity) 1. Use three coloured buckets or containers (or mark them with coloured paper) and matching beanbags.

2. Have the children stand behind a line.

3. They throw their beanbag into the same coloured container.

4. Change colours and move the buckets a little further away and try again. Ask the children to think of another game to play with the beanbags.
